Now that Spring has sprung and we have had one beautiful Memorial Day weekend, we would like to inform you of upcoming events for MVR for the month of June. Come out on a beautiful night in June to hear us!
MVR to play at Martha's Vineyard
If ever you needed an excuse to visit Martha's Vineyard here it is! This year we have been invited to play at First Congregational Church West Tisbury MA on Martha's Vineyard. Come see us on June 3rd at 7 pm. What a wonderful time of year to be going. Simple gifts in a traditional setting, what more could you ask for!
The Church which has had many names and at least four buildings at different sites, has been in exisitence since the early 1700's. The church as we see it today was built in 1833. It has been the center for town meetings and debate for over 300 years.
Back Home
MVR always enjoys playing at our 'home church'. It is one of our favorite concerts.The church is so gracious in allowing us to use their space to practice, their bells to practice on, and of course their Music Director Karen Leonard to direct us. We love to say thank you by playing our music for them. Oftentimes it is a whole church celebration with their youth group hosting the reception and many church members attending. This season the concert at West Chelmsford United Methodist Church is on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 7:30 pm in Fellowship Hall. We have outgrown the sanctuary space for this particular performance. Please come here us play! Thank you so much West Chelmsford UMC!
MVR to play with Bay Colony Brass
MVR will once again play with Bay Colony Brass. This is the second year we have shared a concert with them. Bay Colony directed by Jerry Cadden is based in Bedford MA and plays a variety of music from the classics to Broadway musicals. Many of the pieces are arranged by Jerry. The musicians hail from all over New England.
If you want to hear something special come to our combined concert at Brookside Congregational Church in Manchester NH on June 12, 2011 at 7pm to hear MVR and Massachusetts' premier performing large brass ensemble, Bay Colony Brass. The Brookside Congregational Adult Choir will also be featured on the program as well as organist Kim Whitehead.
We hope to see you this season. We have come to know many of your names, where you ring and what kind of music you love to hear. Each concert we really look forward to seeing you again. Please join us this season for our Simple Gifts!
