MVR

Audition date is Saturday, August 28 between 10am-12pm at WCUMC. Please contact Karen Leonard for the details.

MVR's spring tour 2010 was entitled "A Time to Dance". We have a dynamic program planned that is full of toe-tapping music. Repertoire includes "Five Four Waltz", "Polka from the Golden Age Ballet", "Danse Macabre", "Can-Can" and "Rock Around the Clock" - as well as some other surprises. All concerts are free admission (a free-will donation will be accepted), and our two CD's, "Season's Ringings!" and "Kaleidoscope" will be available for purchase at all performances. So dust off your dancing shoes and join us at one of our SEVEN full concerts. We look forward to entertaining you!

"It has been interesting to watch the development and musical growth of the Merrimack Valley Ringers. I first heard them at the Area I Festival Conference in Orono, Maine and recently at the Boston Area Handbell Festival. I am struck by the attentiveness of the ringers, their execution of musical line, shaping of phrases and the expressiveness they bring to the compositions they ring. I am sure they are adeptly guided by their director, Karen Leonard, and it is obvious that there is a mutual respect and admiration for transforming the dots and lines on the page to an enjoyable, musical experience for the listener. I wish all the members of MVR continued successes in your ventures, venues and years ahead." - Monica S. McGowan, Lakeville, Minnesota

MVRASMVR works with Arnold Sherman

Recently we had the pleasure of having a master class with Arnold Sherman at the 2010 AGEHR, Area I Director's Seminar. He listened to our rendition of "How can I keep from singing" and "Gaudeamus" and then made suggestions. It was a lot of fun working with him.

"One of the finest renditions of Gaudeamus I have heard !" - Arnold Sherman, Composer, and Director of East Texas Handbell Ensemble, Director's Seminar 2010

Two concerts with Bay Colony Brass

For many years MVR has joined Bay Colony Brass for a Christmas concert at St Malachy's in Burilington MA. Bay Colony Brass with Music Director Jerry Cadden, is Massachusett's premier large brass ensemble. The combination of Brass with handbells is really spectacular and we always enjoy listening to the brass players as well as playing our combined pieces. This spring we have the pleasure of joining with Bay Colony Brass in two shared concerts. This should be a wonderful sound! We are really looking forward to working with this fine set of musicians.
